Reading the witty summaries so far, I know I’m in the right league!

Given that the Sox had the 4th pick, we ended up with the 21st ballpark pick, which somewhat drove our strategy. While we (obviously) would have preferred Fenway, Coors Field is quite similar BP rating wise, just a bit more of a launching pad, so Coors it was (plus my brother lives in Denver so I’ve been there…what a footprint…makes Fenway look like a postage stamp!)

Anywho, going into the draft we decided to put the emphasis on being strong in Year One (partially cuz so many young guys seem to yo-yo year to year and/or get hurt…plus I’m inpatient). We intentionally made the first 10 picks with Coors in mind, hence a primarily RH lineup (given the 1-15 HR for righties) and a low HR guy (Sonny G.) as our first pitching pick. Being a certified member of Red Sox Nation, taking Betts (he should still be here) at #4 was an easy selection…5 tool player and positional versatility, which helped in the later rounds. Naturally, he’s hurt, but c’est la vie.

We wanted strong defense up the middle and were pleased to be able to nab Miguel Rojas as our SS, considering all the premium ones went off the board at warp speed.

2024 Red Sox

Starting rotation: Gray, Valdez, E-Rod and a bunch of guys named Joe…not bad, not great. Dustin May a sleeper.

Closers: Graterol, Pete Fairbanks…solid.

Bullpen: Armstrong (R), Uncle Hoby Milner (L) and Wandy Peralta (L), others.

Projected everyday lineup (roughly, subject to change)

1.  Yandy Diaz, 3b

2.  Josh Lowe, lf

3.  Betts, 2b

4.  Nolan Jones, dh

5.  Seiya Suzuki, rf

6.  W. Flores, 1b

7.  Elias Diaz, c

8.  L. Taveras, cf

9. Miguel Rojas, ss

Bench – super sub Berti, Riley Adams, ph extraordinaire E. Clement, other role players

Minors: Sox catching prospect Kyle Teel, O. Basabe, two ML stiffs I’ve never heard of

Should be a blast (especially in Coors).
